Greenback Lane Widening Project Update

(Historical Information Only)

The City of Citrus Heights is planning to widen Greenback Lane from approximately Auburn Blvd. to Dewey Drive. The Park Oaks Neighborhood Association agrees that Greenback Lane should be widened.

Greenback Lane Widening

1/21/2006 Update

David Wheaton, General Services Director, provided an update on the Greenback Lane Widening.

The project is over budget. To cut costs David will be asking the contractor to bid night construction into the project, effectively shortening the project and reducing cost.

bullet

There will be significant delays along Greenback due to construction.

bullet

There is one last property to purchase and then David will come back to the council about the 2nd meeting in February to get approval for additional funding for the project.

bullet

David expects the project to go to bid by mid-February and construction to begin in the spring.

David indicated that further neighborhood meetings will be held in the near future to discuss the project.

David said there are plans for improvements that include a new portion of sound wall that extends from the existing wall to Greenback adjacent to the aparments near Parkoaks Drive.

The land at the corner of Parkoaks and Greenback will be used for tenant parking while a portion of one apartment building is removed to increase parking in the apartment complex.

Soundwall Complete

The Greenback Lane sound wall construction is complete. The power lines and utility lines are being moved to the newly installed poles in the open space area.

The city has a very aggressive schedule for beginning the street widening. The contract was planned to go out to bid in October so that major construction could begin by the 1st of the year. We (the board) will verify this schedule and post updates.

The dusty open area along Greenback will be used as staging area for road widening. Near the end of the project, this area will be landscaped with input from our community. The Historical and Arts Commission is helping us to come up with historical or artistic designs for this area.

Wall Construction photos

Here is the wall that wraps into the Fuqua Physical Therapy parking lot at Greenback and Dewey. We have had compliments on how nice the wall looks.

And here is the finished wall looking from Oakside and Greenback east toward Parkoaks Drive. The wall looks to be all of the 10 foot in height that the neighbors wanted. See previous construction photos below.
